Not only is Ghostface doing an LP with BadbadnotGood and possibly finishing up Supreme Clientele 2 with DOOM (though who knows on that front frankly it may be a rumour), Tony Starks has a superhero themed album coming called 36 Seasons on the way.

Here’s the opening track, a swaggering band track featuring Kool G. Rap and AZ and the singer Tre Williams, a contrast to the previous soulful track ‘Love Don’t Live Here No More’.

The album is out on December 5th and also comes in a deluxe edition with instrumentals, comic books and more.

1. Tei Shi – ‘Basically’

Argentinian-born NYC-based singer Valerie Teicher aka Tei Shi has returned on a whole new level. New track ‘Bassically’ is brilliant, a dark pulsing noir-pop song with stretched vocals. Teicher’s wearing a whole new outfit with the help of producer Luca Buccellati (who recently worked with Hanah) and it sounds great.

She appeared on Glass Animals EP last year and had her own EP out too. This is a step up.

Tracks of the Week playlist

1. Clipping. – ‘Work Work’ (Feat. Cocc Pistol Cree)

One of the many amazing things that happened at Drop Everything, the cultural biennale on Inis Oirr on the Aran Islands in among the DJ sets, the dolphin swimming with people in the bay, the 8 minute flight to Connemara, the light and sound installation on the beach, the Ard Bia cocktails, the live music, the people and the Sunday knees up was this, a song introduced to me in my hotel bedroom by my friend. This tune blew me away. Amazing video too. It’s the little things.

2. Jungle – ‘Time’

While the formula is starting to emerge, it’s hard to deny the sunshine goodness of this tune from Jungle’s debut album.

3. La Roux – ‘Uptight Downtown’

A perfect pop single for me this one. Do you think Elly Jackson had Talking Heads and Bowie in mind when making this? Because it certainly sounds like it.

4. Vic Mensa – ‘Down On My Luck’

The Chicago rapper has toured with Disclosure and it sounds like their garage-house sound has rubbed off on the man’s new single. Production is actually by the unfortunately-named Stefan Ponce.

5. Le Galaxie – ‘Humanise’

Do you know Le Club? The retro-futurist electro Dubliners go hard hard with new single and some raved up chords.

6. Smart Edit – ‘All My Love’

From the Family EP, a release of disco edits from producers curated by Waterford’s Get Down Edits comes this seductive edit of Gwen McCrae’s 1979 track ‘All This Love That I’m Giving’.

7. Mr. Twin Sister – ‘Out Of The Dark

A name change and a disco noir direction for the Long Island band formerly known as Twin Sister. Free download too.

8. R.S.A.G. – ‘I’ll Be There’

Jeremy Hickey’s talents have been recognised by a contingent of musicians in France including Bo’tox, one of Justice and DVNO but before we hear what the latter will sound like, a third R.S.A.G. album is on the way and this track, a darker electronic cut points the way.

9. Lana Del Rey – ‘Shades Of Cool’

There are certain artists, after a while, that you lose interest in, as what drew you to them quickly becomes their schtick. I was tired of Lana’s musical and visual aesthetic of the faded American glamour puss. Then I heard the soaring chorus of ‘Shades Of Cool’ the wah-wah-assisted string chorus and I heard something fresh and classic all at once. From LDR’s second album Ultraviolence out on June 13th.

10. Ghostface Killah & Badbadnotgood & Danny Brown – ‘Six Degrees’

Toronto jazz hop live band trio Badbadnotgood have been known to play live with rappers, most notably with Tyler, The Creator. Here they team up with two of the best in the biz -Ghostface Killah and Danny Brown, for a limited edition single on Lex Records.

While a radio rip of the Madvillain remix of ‘Victory Laps’ appeared a couple of weeks back, here the official stream of DOOM and Ghostface Killah’s tune from their collaborative project DOOMSTARKS. Order it at Nature Sounds.

As for the album, well it was originally supposed to come out in 2007

florence_jakob_bekker_hansen Despite what a short-sighted article in the Sunday Times over the weekend would have you believe, Twitter is much more than “a vanity project” for bloggers like myself. It’s where I (and many others) share and get links, recommendations, news and short bits that aren’t worth a full blog post. It’s where people make connections, share knowledge and all that good stuff that makes life a little bit better.

Sure, you could lazily focus on the mundane tweets that everyone emits, but that’s like thinking all music is moribund because you only listen to Spin FM or that all TV is trash because you only watch Big Brother. Graham Linehan addressed the newspaper Twitter syndrome last week.

In light of this, I thought it was worthwhile collating some of the more interesting tweets over the past week on the blog for those who don’t use Twitter and those missed it the first time. Of course, if you want more of this from me, you can follow me on Twitter. Just don’t do it boost my ego 😉

Let me know if you want more of these roundups.

This remix is packaged as part of some Scion A/V compilation which has a lot of diverse artists featured in the series. You can get the whole Charlie Brown remixes as a zip, but my favourite tune is this nice and funky DJ Mehdi remix which also features a verse from Mapei (Check out the Naeem from Spank Rock collaboration).

The other remixes are from TTC’s Orgasmic, Guns and Bombs, Yuksek and well as acapella and instrumental versions.
