Blog Awards: The gush
I’m usually terrible at accepting compliments in any form but I was delighted that Nialler9 won Best Music Blog last night at the Blog Awards. I was nominated in two other categories (Best Blog, Best Designed Blog) but the Music award was the one I was hoping for. It turned out to be a great night it was great to meet everyone who has visited the site over the last year and a bit, and I was genuinely humbled by the nice things people had to say especially those who expressed their appreciation for turning them on to some great music which is the whole point of the blog in the first place.
It was great to meet the In Fact Ah lads finally (Best Group Blog by far), Sinéad once again (a deserved winner), Justin, Ach go Hairithe, Ronan, Una, Phil, Beaut.ie, Damien (Delighted at Bernie’s gesture), The Swearing Lady (should have won), Laurenen and everyone else. Damien and the organisers did a great job – the trophy is great and the customised champagne was much appreciated. Special thanks to Mike for his contributions over the last year, the nialler9 crew for coming along and making the most noise on the night and those who voted. In a word, ledgebags.
There are many positive things that this kind of award show can bring – the news coverage over the past week, for example. In music terms, I hope a lot more Irish record labels and promo people take notice of the music blogs in this country (still way way behind the US). Looking forward to continuing to share more great music with you all.
