The spoken weird bit during this song freaked me out big time. Besides that, ‘True Thrush’ is a relatively serene take on Dan Deacon’s usual madness, there’s pitched up cartoon voices, patterned marimba-type sounds, looped samples and Deacon leading proceedings in a reserved form. Perhaps this is the “subtler approach to texture” he told us about.
‘True Thrush’ is the second track from America, out on Domino August 24th (IE), 27th (UK) and 28th (US). Pre-ordering the album gets you translucent vinyl and a fabric flag with the artwork.
