In celebration of International Women’s Day on Thursday March 8th, Dublin Digital Radio will be broadcasting 24 hours of radio content produced and presented by women only.

The broadcast will start on Wednesday, March 7th with a selection or warm-up shows and will run right through to midnight on Thursday, March 8th with shows from resident DDR presenters Ruth Murphy, Aisling O’Riordan, Emma Cawley, Lolz, Loreana Rushe, Roo Honeychild, Aoife Nic Canna, Maria Walsh and Handan Hbo – who will be joining from Turkey.

Other shows for 24 Hours of Women’s Voices include:

Waking Up with Women with Ailbhe Ní Riain which will feature discussions with women who work in male-dominated industries.

The Renunciation
This a production of the home|work collective and will consist of stories on a set of social rituals for 12+ people from Ireland seeking abortions daily. The show also ‘challenges the double standards dictated by idealised notions of womanhood and mothering that overlook present day realities and less-than-ideal circumstances.’

Vocal – Riot Grrrrl is a show that tracks historical events and the music that surrounds them, covering everything from feminist punk to garage rock and grunge.
