Eurosonic, the annual new music showcase and conference festival that takes place in the relative quiet of January in the town of Groningen in the Netherlands has kicked off its digital edition today with its impressive conference platform. I had a ball last year before everything shut down.
Free to watch (with registration) for the public this year are all the 189 showcasing acts across 3 nights on Eurosonic starting Wednesday evening and running til Friday evening. The conference costs €50.
Of note to Irish music fans, 8 Irish acts are playing this year including Alex Gough, Denise Chaila, Enola Gay, JyellowL, NewDad, PowPig, Robert Grace and Tebi Rex.

Of non-Irish music acts, I’d recommend checking out Holly Humberstone, Katy K Pearson, Benny Sings, Drew Sycamore, Casper Clausen, Keep Dancing Inc, Jockstrap, Daði Freyr, Lava La Rue, Sassy 009, Arp Frique, Samba De La Meurte and Rimon.
Alex Gough, Denise Chaila, NewDad and Robert Grace were filmed in Whelans under safe restrictions in December last year while PowPig’s performance is from Ireland Music Week in October.
