The False and The Fair – ‘Bald Apes’

Avatar

The False and The Fair are an Dublin alternative rock band formed in 2013 who are new to me. Their new single ‘Bald Apes’ is the highlight of their illustrious career this far, a track that skirts the obvious over its five minute running time, going from megaphone-screamed vocals to sweet-vocal hook to female wailing suddenly while the band flit between post-rock, psychedelic and more straight ahead styles.

The song is accompanied by Hugh Mulhern’s video (director of the Dah Jevu video) featuring some delinquent apes  being overcome by some filthy humans played by the band in retaliation. Planet of the Apes in reverse basically.

The False and The Fair play the Workman’s Club on Friday to launch it.
