First Listen: The Expert – Dynamic Drift
Since the dissolving of the early part of the best Irish group in the first decade, Messiah J And The Expert, the production end of the group, The Expert has continued his crate-digging forays into making beat tapes and producing for other artists including Has-Lo, Castle, Curly Castro and Zilla Rocca.
Right here, we have the complete first solo album Dynamic Drift to chew on. It features thirteen tracks of collage-style sample-featuring hip-hop beats that recalls the experimental ambience of DJ Shadow’s early work and the melodic excursions of RJD2, even J Dilla on the disco-flaunting ‘Rainy Days’. The abum is dominated by piano, flutes, soul and jazz samples. Perfect for chilling out to on a bright day.
The album is available on Bandcamp.
