All you need to know about the Galway Summer Sessions gigs

Galway Airport hosts a series of gigs throughout August and here’s all the info you need.

What times do gates open?

CAR PARK OPENS: 6:00PM

ADVERTISED GATES: 7:00PM

SHOW STARTS: 7:30PM

LAST ENTRY: 10:00PM

IMPORTANT: NO QUEUING ALLOWED PRIOR TO GATES OPENING. Patrons are advised to allow an extra 2 hours to travel to the event and pass through security checks.


Site Map

There are two entry points to the site – the GREEN gate is for buses, taxis and drop offs via the R339, and the BLUE gate is for audience parking via Junction 19 only. Please do not attempt to drop off outside the venue or on nearby roads, as this is dangerous due to no footpaths.


TransportHow to get there?

Plan and book your return travel arrangements in advance allowing an extra 2 hours travel time to and from the venue. There is no pedestrian access to or from the site – plan your journey accordingly. As traffic and parking delays are inevitable you are strongly encouraged to use shuttle and private coach services available. Promoters do not operate transport to/from the venue, this is a matter for customers to arrange in advance.

By TRAIN: Irish Rail provide great links to Galway City (Ceannt station) from all over the country. Train times and information can be found at www.irishrail.ie.

By BUS (Shuttle Service): Expressway will be running return services between Eyre Square to Galway Airport (MCD Concerts). Tickets can be booked at

By BUS (Private Coaches):Follow the event signage to the bus parks where there will be options to park or drop-off within the site – no advance booking required.

By CAR: There is concert car parking available. To avoid disappointment, pre- book your parking as soon as possible via Evntz App. Scan the QR code below or visit www.evntz.ie to download the app. Car parks will open at 6pm each day and close immediately after each show. All vehicles must vacate the site each night – no overnight camping permitted. Do not park illegally or at nearby off-site locations – towing will be in operation.

By TAXI: Car/taxi drop-off is available within the site via the GREEN gate off the R339.

What else do I need to know?

  • Due to health and safety, there are strictly no camping/collapsible chairs/stools permitted in the venue. Please do not bring these items as security will have to refuse you entry with them.
  • Galway Airport is a standing only venue. All events will take place rain, hail or shine under canvas. Please check the weather forecast and dress accordingly for Irish weather – think wellies, boots or runners, layers, raincoats/ponchos and suncream but remember no umbrellas.
  • Strict security checks will be in operation. Everyone will be subject to a search permissible under law, per Purchase Policy. It is a condition to entry, to protect everyone’s safety. Additional searches may take place once inside the venue.
  • Patrons are especially advised not to bring large bags/backpacks as they may experience delays or be refused entry. There will be no storage facilities on site. Any items left at entrances / in surrounding areas will be removed and disposed of accordingly.
  • Bags larger than A4, glass or cans, umbrellas, alcohol, garden furniture, selfie sticks, flares, professional cameras and audio recording equipment will not be permitted. See the full list of prohibited items on Prohibited Items | MCD.ie.
  • Obey the stewards and Gardai and instructions given over the public address for your own safety.
  • There are no re-admissions to the concert. If you leave, there is no re-entry.
  • Promoter reserves the right to refuse admission without refund to anyone
    who fails to comply with these T&Cs, as agreed by customer and per Ticketmaster Purchase Policy.
  • Don’t rush to exits after the concerts.

Where is the box office for ticket collection?

There will be one box office located by the main entrance at the GREEN gate, ahead of the ticket check point. We encourage you to download your tickets to your phone ahead of the event – don’t wait until the day!


What’s the age policy?

Under 16’s MUST be accompanied at all times by a Parent/Guardian over 25, take full responsibility and remain with them throughout the event. Strict age monitoring in place. Unaccompanied under 16’s will be refused entry without refund. Recommended no under 5’s.


Accessibility

MCD cannot amend or move any ticket bookings, but if you are attending on general admission tickets and would benefit from an accessible accommodation, you can request it here: Outdoor Accessibility Requests | MCD.ie.

Please note, all forms close 7 days out from event date.

Accessible ticket holders do not need to contact MCD. They will be contacted directly regarding accessible parking / drop-off locations. All accessible parking must be arranged in advance.
