Galway’s Black Gate seeking donations to help to open new venue

The Black Gate is a Cultural centre and venue in Galway city that was a hub for arts and artists, They released music like Niamh Regan’s debut album, ran a wine bar, hosted intimate concerts, built a recording studio, live streamed shows during the pandemic and created TG4 live music shows on TV.

We visited at the end of the pandemic as restrictions were lifted for the podcast.

The building was since closed as a cultural space due to being sold by its landlord, but The Black Gate has now secured a new space on Flood Street, around the corner from the previous spot in Galway city.

In order to make the leap to this new phase, the Black Gate is asking the community to support the space to enable it to continue on as a cultural hub.

Any donation, large or small is a help, they say, with rewards, such as Black Gate postcards, custom T-shirts, concert passes, limited-edition artist prints, gift vouchers, and more on offer.

Any funds raised will go towards – electrical upgrades, fire-safety systems, ventilation, metalwork, and joinery for the space.

Donate via Indiegogo.
