Girl Band – ‘Lawman’

Dublin band Girl Band had a relatively quiet 2013 but they’ve got things moving for this year with dates in the UK and the Eurosonic festival this month. Their cover of Blawan’s ‘Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage’ appeared on Quompilation #3 this time last year and it featured on a couple of end of year lists that I saw last month.

‘Lawman’ is a real breaking track, a stomping, fuzzy six minutes of ballsy post-punk rock noise with vocal lines like “I used to be good looking” and “I know I’m not a racist but..” It’s a real gutbusting palate cleanser.

The single is out on Any Other City on handstitched screenprinted 7″ next week. Order via Bandcamp. The song is now available as a free download too. The B-side has the brilliant title ‘Heckle The Frames’.
