Give Us The Night hosting nationwide public talks about nightlife
Where Is The Night? is a nationwide tour of public talks, discussing the ongoing delay of new licensing laws and the current state of Irish nightlife.
Irish nightlife lobby group Give Us The Night are hosting seven nights of public talks in Cork, Dublin, Waterford, Kerry, Limerick, Sligo and Galway.
This latest round of talks, come in the wake of much consultation with the government since 2020, and the government’s stalled Sale of Alcohol Bill and sweeping promises of late night legislation change which has received no attention since they announced their intention to extend opening hours, create new permits, repeal the 1935 Public Dance Halls Act and more. In fact, the can was kicked down the road once more.
The public events are intended to discuss the licensing reform and any other challenges around it, and how laws can be enacted while being a forum for people to discuss and highlight these issues.
The dates are:
26th February – The Bodega, Cork – 7:00pm
28th February – The Sugar Club, Dublin – 6:00pm
29th February – Factory, Waterford – 7:00pm
5th March – The Killarney Grand, Kerry – 7:00pm
11th March – Garavogue Bar, Sligo – 7:00pm
12th March – The Mick Lally Theatre, Galway – 6:00pm
12th March – Treaty City Brewery, Limerick – 9:00pm
To attend the Sugar Club event, RSVP here.

Most importantly we want to hear from you, and how nightlife is on the ground. The industry looks different since we last did a nationwide tour in 2019 and its needs are changing. Issues have grown significantly for those still trying to run a venue in a post-pandemic environment. Your feedback is important to us, which we intend to relay onto the government after this series of meetings are completed.
If you’re a venue owner, cultural programmer, promoter, performer, manager, worker, advocate, nightlife goer or supporter, please drop by. If you’re a public representative or election candidate, we’d also like to have you with us. As we edge towards local elections, with a general election also in sight, we’d like public representatives to be more aware of what local communities and night-time venues need in the future, as we aim to reshape the night and the night-time economy in Ireland.
