Haley Blais: The 10 songs I love right now

Avatar

The Canadian indie singer-songwriter is coming to Dublin town this September 11th and has shared with us some of the key songs in her music rotation right now.

Haley Blais was one of our highlights of Iceland Airwaves last year, and we were also enamoured with the song ‘The Cabin’ from the Vancouver artist’s second album Wisecraft, that came out via Arts & Crafts.

The Coolest f*cking b*tch in town is coming… and here’s Haley’s top 10 songs right now.

1.

Boy Golden

Mesmerized

I WANNA DRIVE IN A TRUCK FULL OF MY FRIENDS TO A LAKE AND WE ALL JUMP IN HOLDING HANDS.

2.

Madonna

Don’t Tell Me

This is one of those songs you hear a lot when you’re younger and search for it the rest of your life and it turns out to be a Madonna song off her album Music (amazing) and all is right in the world.

3.

Shawn Mendes

Isn’t That Enough

I’m officially a Shawn Mendes fan. Obsessed with this country renaissance in pop right now.

4.

When In Rome

The Promise

Are you hearing this??? I reawakened my love for this song after watching Lisa Frankenstein (really good). First week of August always feels like fall to me, and this song is partly to blame

5.

Paul McCartney

Another Day

I wake up and do my chores to this and they don’t feel like chores. No one does menial task songs like Paul.

6.

Brian Eno, John Cale

I Lay My Love

Definitely an “end credits”/main character type song it’s sooooo perfect. Nothing else to say. What an absolutely perfect song.

7.

Kacey Musgraves

Swy

My favourite track off the new album, maybe one of my favorite songs of hers yet!!!

8.

The Bygones

Whatever That Is

Josh Turner is one of my favourite guitar players living right now, and his new project with Allison Young is something not to be missed.

9.

Lizzy McAlpine

All Falls Down

It makes sense that Lizzy credited Andy Shauf as a major major influence on this new album because when I first heard this song I was confused as to why it just sounded like a straight up Andy Shauf song. The more I listen to it the more the pieces come together and I think this song is f***ing stellar.

10.

Bruce Springsteen

Atlantic City

Everything dies, baby, that’s a fact / But maybe everything that dies some day comes back / Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty / And meet me tonight in Atlantic City. The Boss doing what the Boss does best.

Haley Blais plays The Grand Social on Wednesday, September 11th 2024.
