Ruby Smith is the Irish songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer behind the artist Trophy Wife, an alt-pop project with two singles in the wild – ‘Beauty Queen’ and ‘Birthday’.
The third Trophy Wife single ‘On The Phone’, is getting a first listen here today, before a six-track EP drops on her own label Trophy House, while Smith is in her final year of English Literature in Trinity College Dublin.
While living in. Barcelona two years ago, Smith wrote Art, her debut EP with plans to perform with a full live band once you know, all the pandemic stuff is over.
‘On The Phone’ is a confident and smart alt-pop song with nods to Prince funk and contemporary artists Ruby cites like Muna, King Princess and Clairo.
