The Michigan singer-songwriter John Grant has been announced for Sligo Live this year, as part of a programme for the festival that includes The Waterboys for shows this November, and Steve Earle this summer.
Grant, who broke through with his solo album Queen Of Denmark in 2010 before going on to make synth-pop and electronic music, mostly recently with Creep Show (who have a second album Yawning Abyss out this month – ‘Money Back’ is a favourite).
Grant’s gift for lyricism and expression of the inner self is key to his appeal and has seen him garner a big audience in Ireland over the years. His collaborator list includes including Sinead O’Connor, Alison Goldfrapp, Hercules And Love Affair, Tracey Thorne, Elbow, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Midlake, Susanne Sundfør, Cate Le Bon and Lost Horizons, and he will feature on the upcomng CMAT record.
John Grant plays Knocknarea Arena Sligo on November 3rd this year. Tickets from €35 on sale now.
