Kitt Philippa acknowledges true companionship in ‘Grace’

Ruth Cronin

Kitt Phillipa is undeniably one of the most compelling artists in the country at the moment.

We were pleased to hear of their return earlier this year after a two year hiatus with a new sound, look and name (they formerly went under the name Katharine Philippa). The name change was made in an effort to a create a greater sense of non-binary neutrality, which served as the inspiration for the gorgeous ‘Human‘ and last Thursday’s impressive showing at our Future Proof series in the Bello Bar.

Their new single ‘Grace‘ showcases exactly what Kitt does best. The song is delicate and poignant, and minimal instrumentation places Kitt’s lyrics at the forefront: “undress my ego; feel my skin beat / know my scars are threads now untied / sew a canvas for our boat, dear / let the wind come gently sail us”.

The track is an ode to companionship, and serves as a reminder to us all to be gentle with one another.
