The Kerry-based singer-songwriter and all-rounder Laurie Shaw has released an album all about the town of Ballina, County Mayo.
The album, Neck Of The Woods, was written and recorded for the town of Ballina in County Mayo via the Ballina 2023 Community Events Fund.
The 8-track album was researched by Shaw in the town and recorded at his home studio in Kerry. Says Laurie:
The record was a commission to create an LP about the town of Ballina in County Mayo so I went up during their Salmon Festival and did some research. After the locals let me out of their Wicker Salmon we started to get along and I got to interview some important people and take photos of Heritage Day and look at Balleek Manor and it’s ace suits of armour.
The album is on Bandcamp and streaming services. An accompanying short film for the album is also available to watch below:
Laurie Shaw has written well over 100 albums in his short time.
