On the new Creatures Of The Night EP from The Notas, the North county Dublin band push their music further into new-romantic territory while maintaining their intricate indie sound. The six-piece band are still in thrall to spatial instrumentation and gentle guitar notes but singer Maurice Hans’ delivery has grown more dramatic, a fact that has been obvious at recent live gigs. We’ve already heard the EP track ‘Rosemary’ and on the other three tracks on the release, the music takes in Foals-esque cascading guitar licks and dynamically built crescendos. It’s further proof that The Notas can write good tunes. Their next task, is to carve out a musical landscape of their own (they’re still young) but for now, their second EP will do nicely.
The Notas have live dates in Dublin on April 19th, April 27th and Camden Crawl Dublin on May 5th.
