Emerging Dublin neo-soul artist Melina Malone lays down an ultimatum on debut single ‘Now Or Never’ (Premiere)
Melina Malone is a Dublin neo-soul artist.
Malone, who’s been vocally trained since a young age, may very well be a familiar name to some of you. That’s because the singer collaborated with Mango X Mathman during their ‘Heartbreaks & Promises’ Studio 8 performance last year (here).
While that performance & a regular gigging schedule have earned the artist a steady following, there’s been nothing by way of solo studio material released until this point.
However, today we’re delighted to be premiering Malone’s debut single ‘Now Or Never’.
The single, produced by Steven McCann (Booka Brass, JyellowL), is of an electro-soul ilk. We’d highly recommend some good speakers or cans to get the fullest grasp of the mix and arrangement as possible.
The arrangement, mid-tempo, plays foundation to Malone’s vocals – which dominate the high-end of the mix. The vocals are pitch-perfect, fluctuating between mellow & impassioned at a moment’s notice.
The harmonies which emphasis the final word in each line of the hook are a highlight – delivered and mixed superbly.
As is the crafty synth work throughout the arrangement, which works excellently in tandem with the organic instrumentation (bass, guitar) also playing.
Malone has a couple of shows coming up, she performs with St.Bishop on November 14th at a secret location. Then on December 18th, she plays with Celaviedmai as part of the We-Bloom sessions.
Tickets and further details for each of the live shows can be found on the artist’s website.
