Meljoann wages war on corporate bosses on the wonky R&B electronica of ‘O Supervisor’
We love Meljoann’s wonky electronic R&B around these parts, especially as her voice is a close proximity to mid-90s Janet Jackson which is a great thing to sound like in our estimation.
After dropping ‘Company Retreat’ in April and ‘Personal Assistant’ back in 2017, the Brighton-based Irish artist Meljoann is gearing up for the release of a corporate-themed album HR, inspired by a job at a call centre, “during which I unfortunately got to observe a creepy corporate scene from way too close up.”
With the album arriving this Autumn, check out ‘O Supervisor’ which in Joan’s words:
“…imagines impossible ways to escape the claws of Bosses. Can we re-code this crappy reality? This song uses video game tropes and post-colonial, post-Marxist arguments to win the level.“
