Metropolis announce guest speakers at festival including Karl Hyde, Wolfgang Flür, Alexis Taylor, Saul Williams & more
Metropolis announced guest speakers for their conversations strand of the festival in conjunction with Red Bull Music Academy in the RDS from 3 – 5 November this year including Karl Hyde (Underworld), Wolfgang Flür (ex-Kraftwerk), Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip) & Matt Thorne, Saul Williams, Ralph Rolle (Chic), Wonder Mike and Master Gee (The Sugarhill Gang), Jessy Lanza, Fantasy 12: Sleeve Notes. Krystal Klear and New Jackson among others.
Underworld’s Karl Hyde will discuss publication of I Am Dogboy, a collection of diaries and photographs he’s been putting together since ‘99 Former Kraftwerk member Wolfgang Flür will participate in a Q&A about his life, Alexis Taylor and Matt Thorne (author of the recent Prince biography) will discuss Prince’s life. Saul Williams will be doing live spoken word performance, followed by an in depth interview and Q&A. Ralph Rolle of Chic will be interviewed by Hot Press’ Stuart Clark about his drumming work with Chic, his cookie line and he will give a drumming workshop.
An Irish Electronic Artists Panel featuring Krystal Klear, New Jackson among others, will talk about the business side of electronic music, their careers and how to breakthrough as electronic artists hailing from Ireland.
Meanwhile, Hen’s Teeth Prints presents Fantasy 12 : Sleeve Notes (happening this weekend, win tickets here), a celebration of iconic record artwork and what it takes to visually interpret the work of a musician. They’ll delve into how labels and artists get connected, the process of collaboration, and the push and pull between artist, label and musician in the process.
