Friday is album release day and here’s a rundown of what’s been released on DSPs and physical releases in stores.

SENU – Jetlag

Sam Killeen’s debut album of electronic beats, jazz and hip-hop.. An album launch performance happens tonight.

Biig Piig – The Sky Is Bleeding EP

6-track EP from the Irish artist who featured on Kojaque’s new tune this week.

Erika De Casier – Sensational

Copenhagen singer-songwriter and producer releases indie, R&B album on 4AD. I recommended a track yesterday.

Gruff Rhys – Seeking New Gods

The Super Furry has settled into a nice groove for this new album on Rough Trade.

Billie Marten – Flora Fauna

UK indie-folk artist steps up the sonics on third album.

CHAI – WINK

Japanese four-piece move on from their Kawaii punk pop into a more electronic pop style.

Emma Houton – The Bath

Having released Maija Sofia’s Bath Time, the label Trapped Animal has another Irish-related bath-themed album up its sleeve in the form of Emma Houton, a New Yorker with family ties in Inishowen, Donegal.

The Bath was composed after an ethnographic study into their Irish folk song roots and recorded as part of their senior thesis in electronic music, Emma originally wrote The Bath as a piece for eight voices to be performed live. Due to the COVID pandemic, she ended up recording all eight parts alone in her childhood bedroom, mixing and producing it herself.

Lydia Ainsworth – Sparkles & Debris

Toronto singer, composer and producer makes dreamy synth pop. I saw in my travels this has been likened to HAIM vocally.

Lord Huron – Long Lost

Indie-folk band still kicking it down a dusty trail.

Olivia Rodrigo – SOUR

The hastily put together album to capitalise on the success of January’s Driver’s Licence? Possibly.

Sinéad Harnett – Ready is Always Too Late

Former Disclosure collaborator has continued to forge her solo career.

MDOU MOCTAR – Afrique Victime

Tuareg guitarist and songwriter with a Saharan rock album for modern times.

Waterparks – Greatest Hits

Houston trio who make alt-pop-rock.

Gary Numan – Intruder

“Doomsday bangers from the master of survival,” according to the NME.

Colleen – The Tunnel and the Clearing

French multi-instrumentalist seventh album of ambient infused songs.

BABii – MiiRROR

The artist’s second solo album of fractured electronic pop with production by Iglooghost and umru.
