I’ve been a big fan of former Argentinean comedian Juana Molina for a couple of years now so it’s good to see her return with a new album Un Día and gigs in Dublin on October 9th and Cork on the 11th. She was brilliant last year in Crawdaddy and last month at the Picnic.
Un Día is more abstract, more layered and less accessible (each song is on average 7 minutes long) than previous album Son but still utterly captivating. Try the title track on for size. Hypnotic.
The lyrics translated are:
“One day I will sing the songs with no lyrics and everyone can imagine for themselves if it’s about love, disappointment, banalities or about Plato.”
