New Albums
Silverbacks – Easy Being A Winner
The third album from the Irish indie rock band feels like their most complete record yet. Recorded with Dan Fox of Gilla Band in Sonic Studios. My Bloody Valentine, Guided By Voices, Stereolab and Nick Cave are cited as influences. Dublin and Cork gigs this weekend.

Confidence Man – 3AM (LA LA LA)
The third album from the Aussie electro boppers moves their dance sound more in a Y2K direction, so more ravey and referencing classic dance too with trance, The Prodigy, Underworld and breakbeat cited.
Shiv – the defiance of a sadgirl
A diaristic debut album of a year in the life of Irish-Zimbabwean producer, singer-songwriter of neo-soul, RnB and lo-fi hip-hop. As she told us on the podcast this summer, she blew up the bones of her life – relationship, abode, leaving her label and manager and more. Dublin launch tonight.
Kelly Lee Owens – Dreamstate
Welsh electronic producer’s fourth album brings her bodied techno-leaning music into a more dreamy pop music sphere.
Passersby – Hex Key
Passersby is the experimental folk moniker of Dublin-based artist Diarmuid O’Connor, who you might recognise as having played with Henry Earnest, Banríon and Isaac Jones.
HEX KEY is Passersby’s second long-form release, written during a year living in Tokyo and self-produced between there and Dublin. From intricate fingerpicked passages to visceral walls of noise, HEX KEY expresses both the freedom and frustrations of being swallowed up by the megalopolis. While the album was conceived elsewhere, Passersby’s deep roots in the Dublin music scene are evident in the long list of contributors to the record.
Audrey Nuna – Trench
LA alt-pop R&B singer and rapper’s latest album, who also just dropped a Tiny Desk Concert.
Maverick Sabre – Burn The Right Things Down
Wexford London-based R&B singer’s fifth studio record.
Proper Micro NV – Microsaurus
Limerick electronic artist Rory Hall releases his first album since 2018’s Dormant Boy, featured textured cerebral productions and vocals. Limerick launch this evening.
cbakl – Growing Pains
Belfast producer drops an old-school style Instrumental hip-hop album / beat tape.
Bon Iver – SABLE, EP
Four-track EP is a rarity from Justin Vernon. This New Yorker interview is worth a read today.
The Blessed Madonna – Godspeed
Chicago producer and DJ Marea Stamper releases a 24-track full-length record featuring James Vincent McMorrow, A-Trak, Joy Crookes, Jamie Principle, Kylie, Jacob Lusk of Gabriels and more.
Keeley – Beautiful Mysterious
Dublin power pop artist releases second album of retro indie and shoegaze music. As with the previous album, the songs are concerned with the life and murder of Inga Maria Hauser in 1988.
American Football – American Football (Covers)
Covers album of the American band’s 1999 debut marking a 25th anniversary with a remastered edition and a covers record featuring Ethel Cain, Iron & Wine, Manchester Orchestra, Blondshell and more.
Madison Cunningham and Andrew Bird – Cunningham Bird
A complete covers album of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks’ 1973 album, Buckingham Nicks.
Sack – Wake Up People!
Longstanding Dublin band Sack’s new album was produced by John (Spud) Murphy and Sack, and is the band’s first album since 2001’s Adventura Majestica.
Fohn – Seanteach
English violinist and producer Tom Connolly releases an album inspired by the west coast of Ireland. Seanteach on Odda Recordings, due October 18th, is informed by “island life, marine folklore, musical tradition, connection to the land, the severing of earthly ties, explorations of environment, mythos and generational memory.”
a lazarus soul – Wilderflowers EP
Four-track EP from the Dublin band following on from their recent album No Flowers Grow In Cement Gardens. Vicar Street gig next week.
Pippa Molony – Hungry Ghost EP
Dublin artist works with close collaborator Rory Sweeney on new seven-track release. Local Gods, 2ManyColours and Greg Tisdall also feature.
“Hungry Ghost is a concept record that explores the theme of ‘consumption,’ with each track offering ethereal, experimental electronic sounds inspired by the overall theme, Irish folklore and dreams. Much like the Hungry Ghost in Buddhism, the music speaks to a longing for more, for a place I don’t quite belong, for connection with otherworldly creatures—always yearning, never satisfied. It’s about a feeling of being on the outside, looking in, always on the cusp of something, but never there.”
Launch gig on Saturday in Daylight.
