New Albums
Lambrini Girls – Who Let The Dogs Out
The Brighton noise-punk band with riot grrrl influences drop their debut album, a rough-hewn searing collection of socially conscious direct punk rock music.
The band play Whelan’s in April and In The Meadows this summer.
We interviewed Lambrini Girls about Lambrini Girls on punk, Iggy Pop and creating safe spaces a while ago.
Skinner – New Wave Vaudeville
The debut album from multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer Aaron Corcoran’s no wave project takes inspiration from the New York scene in the late ‘70s/early ‘80s; specifically, the titular variety freak show that took place at the 57 Club in New York from 1978 to 1983. The club was known for its free-form art shows, a debaucherous wild riposte to creeping commerciality of modern culture of the time.
The ten-track collection features previous singles ‘New Wave Vaudeville’, ‘Tell My Ma’, ‘Calling In Sick’ and ‘Geek Love’ and is released on vinyl through Faction Records.
An instore takes place today (Friday) at 6pm at Spindizzy Records.
DOI: I’m Skinner’s manager so I’m involved in the project.
Travy – Spooky
One half of the Irish rap duo (Travis & Elzzz) who made headlines last year who had the first ever Irish rap album at #1 in the Irish album charts.
Travy (formerly Travis), drops a 13-track debut solo mixtape of his own.
Reggie, Youngiz, Elzzz, Zipbby!+* and French MC Yvnnis feature on the tracks.
Franz Ferdinand – The Human Fear
The Scottish indie rockers are back in a revitalised fashion with their sixth album on Domino Records.
The Human Fear marks the band’s lineup changes on record – it’s the first studio album to feature drummer Audrey Tait and guitarist Dino Bardot, with Julian Corrie (Miaoux Miaoux) collaborating with Alex Kapranos and Bob Hardy on songwriting and creative duties.
Ethel Cain – Perverts
American singer-songwriter and record producer’s slowcore and ambient drone album serves as their latest Southern Gothic missive.
The 9 tracks here clock in at 1 hour 29 minutes, filled with ambient noise, often dark and foreboding, with occasional sweet torchlit pensive vocals. More Chelsea Wolfe than Wolf Alice.
One thing’s for sure, it’s not the followup to the 2022 breakout Preacher’s Daughter fans expected.
Brigid Mae Power – Songs for You
Galway-based Irish folk singer-songwriter’s latest collection is a covers album dedicated to her father, the recently deceased giant of music promotion in the UK – Vince Power.
The album features interpretations of tracks written by legendary artists like Roy Orbison, Tom Verlaine, Neil Young, and Cass McCombs.
Brigid is joined by Ryan Jewell on drums and Shahzad Ismaily on bass, it was mixed by Sean McErlaine and mastered by Brian Pyle.
sign crushes motorist – Make His Ribs Show
The Irish slowcore artist from Donegal sign crushes motorist had a big year in 2024. He’s just released a new album under one of his many monikers Make His Ribs Show.
Make His Ribs Show is his first of four teased releases this year as per Insta.
