Strands – Inner Spaces
New album of productions from Dubliner Stephen Shannon on Wicklow’s Remote Town Records.
The album was inspired by places that the producer wanted to visit during lockdown that were inaccessible to him.
“I grew up in a small village in Co. Wicklow, between the mountains and the sea. I spent my
summers taking long hikes through fields, forests and along coastlines, listening to music on my Walkman. I made compilation tapes before each excursion, imagining where I would be at
precise points on the walk, as each song played. t formed a life-long habit – I still take long walks through the mountains and forests of Wicklow, bringing new playlists for company.Last year, when travel restrictions prohibited me from travelling no more than a few kilometres from home, I compiled a list of all of the places I really wanted to go back to. I began making a piece of music for each location, visualising these spaces. Each track is about a space remembered and all my past journeys there, along with how it felt to return to them post-lockdown. .”
Molly Payton – Slack
London-based 20-year-old releases mini-album of indie-rock.
Hans Zimmer – No Time to Die (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Bond.
Various Artists – Salvation: Inspired by The Cranberries
The charity vinyl album in aid of Pieta House features Wyvern Lingo, Pillow Queens, Aimée, Kodaline, Kitt Philippa and more.
Loah – When I Rise Up EP
“A series of poetry, written in the 1920s, set to music and melody.”
Sunken Foal – Two Moon Junction
New album from Dunk Murphy.
“Recordings began with an 808 drum machine clone programmed to perform algorithmic polyrhythms – taking these well familiar sounds into more complex interlocking groove cycles. These patterns were then used to inform and drive acoustic melodies and electronic sound designs inhabiting a space that’s somewhere between the human and the mechanical. Upright piano cavorts with Buchla synthesiser on the dreamy lament ’Silvermint’ while major key plucked arpeggios cascade around footwork tinged rhythms on ’Spike the Punch’. A sense of organic cultivation arrises as elements are encouraged rather than controlled while still retaining an emotional sense of resolve.”
Cherym – Hey Tori
New EP from Derry pop punk band.
Black Dice – Mod Prog Sic
New album on ex DFA man Jonathan Galkin’s Four Four Records.
Kedr Livanskiy – Liminal Soul
Russian producer/musician of electronic songcraft.
