Malt liquor and hipster beer empties at the Crystal Antlers show in Williamsburg last night.
In the city that never sleeps during CMJ, a million gigs pass you by and you’re powerless to do anything about it. That’s why you have to pick and choose a venue and pretty much stay there. We’ve had two full days so far and my highlights have been Fanfarlo, Suckers and Crystal Antlers.
Tonight sees the Irish bands doing their thing at The Bowery Poetry Club. If you can’t make it, you can stream it here. Then, tomorrow night – Chromeo, Solid Gold, Holy Ghost!, Theophilus London and Amazing Baby in a bowling alley is where I’m headed for the night. I think that only hipsters drink Pabst Blue Ribbon and Colt 45 to prove how much of a hipster they are- even poor college students wouldn’t touch that stuff…as Adam says…its evilllll! They must have some sort of genetic anomaly that lets them get it down without the gag reflex.

everyone pokes fun at hipsters, but no one is ever prepared to admit they are one…even if they so obviously move in the same circles. it’s funny, the people i know who give out about “hipsters” the most would be among the first i would suggest belong to that classification.
and pbr is fine, it’s a hell of a lot better than most of the draught beer available in the states, and its more than likely the cheapest fucking thing in the bar – why wouldn’t you fucking drink it? afraid of looking like a hipster? what does that make that person then who’s afraid to drink something for looking a certain way?
