Irish music had a fruitful creative period this year (and long may it continue), so this year’s list (the fifth annual albums poll) was hotly contested. Having said that, there were two clear frontrunners who swapped all the way til the end before one pulled away in the final stretch. A full list of results for both the Irish albums and songs of 2010 is linked at the bottom of the last page. 124 albums were voted for, by nearly 200 people so thanks to all of you. Special thanks to the bands who made compiling a list like this totally worthwhile and I hope you find something you missed throughout the year and support the band accordingly.
Special Thanks to Stephen Graham aka Leftovers/400 Facts for the illustration. If you’re still in the mood for some voting, The Digital Socket Awards are still open for one more day.

Fantastic list as always. Your readers are a clever bunch. So many great albums.
some great albums. looking forward to getting into the ones i havent heard. howay the musicians!
The thing that’s the most noticeable from this list and the songs one is that Richter’s dominating this whole scene. Dunno if that means commercially too, but it’s kind of cool that a vaguely aesthetically unified label have such a solid output and that people are responding to that. Five albums in the top ten, like.
Excellent list in general, also.
Great list, delighted to see Nouveaunoise in there, a really underrated records in most end of year polls. It’s a ridiculously strong top thirty, plenty there to get my hands on over the Christmas. That whole art-thriving-in-recession idea really could be true.
Groom’s Marriage isn’t here? I knew I should have voted, my vote surely would have zapped it straight to NUMBER ONE
delighted to see halves ,not squares ,thread pulls ,the cats of cheers ,solar bears all on there ,very deserving.
some savage albums this year.
