Premiere: Hip-hop with hardcore punk heritage from new Irish MC Nealo

Check out his gritty debut EP October Year now.

Nealo is a new Irish MC with a difference.

Having cut his teeth over the past decade touring with various hardcore punk bands, most notably with the group Frustration, the artist turned to hip-hop as a medium of expression.

Back at the drawing board, Nealo spent 10 months writing over 50 tracks. His debut EP October Year are the best four of those tracks.

The lyrics on October Year are gritty and to the point, speaking to the artist’s background in the Punk scene. The instrumentals take a more classic turn, filled with lo-fi loops and sampled drum patterns.

It’s urban storytelling, check out our favorites ‘Substance’ and ‘October Year’ to see what we mean.

Another welcome addition to Ireland’s booming hip-hop scene, remember the name.
