Quantic plays Donal Dineen’s Backstory night this Saturday
Donal Dineen’s club night Backstory is the only club that takes place regularly in Dublin 8’s Commercial Rowing Club.
This Saturday February 1st is a notable edition of the club as Will Holland aka Quantic returns to head the lineup that also features the Limerick music photographer B+ and Frankie Francis from the Sofrito label.
That’s a killer lineup with Donal Dineen no doubt filling in the blanks on the night in the Chapelizod/Islandbridge waterside venue.

All of the reasons why the return of Quantic to the Backstory decks is so meaningful would be impossible to list here. Suffice to say that the many multi-coloured fruits of Will Holland’s extensive labours as songwriter, musician, musicologist, producer and collaborator supreme are significant among them but it’s his skills at the DJ controls as well as the immense knowledge he brings to the table, that has us most excited for his imminent return to the Commercial Rowing Club on February 1st.
Given his pedigree, there is no greater pilot we could wish for on an extended journey deep into sound.
As sonic explorer, Holland has walked the walk and talked the talk, fervently digging for fire across cities, countries and continents. His staunch commitment to the cause as well an uncanny knack of finding his way directly to the heart of the matter has served him well. He’s gone further than most, presenting unheard wonders from Ethiopia and diligently compiling the extensively researched pivotal Columbian collection, The Original Sound Of Cumbia.
As a musical artist he put down roots and developed musical projects in several continents. His legendary DJ sets are like unofficial guides to the musical universe and our excitement at the prospect of embarking on another voyage under his stewardship is already mounting. After a barnstorming set in 2023, it’s an honour to be hosting him at Backstory once again. Co-pilots on the night will be Frankie Francis from the venerable Sofrito label and Backstory regular, legend of legends and digger extraordinaire, B+, It’s a night of heavy hitters with the vibe on full power settings from early doors.
