Glenn, or G Bone to his pals was one of the nicest people you could encounter out and about in Irish music.
He played with various bands in a studio and live setting over the years including with Jape (and on the 2015 record This Chemical Sea), Bell x1, David Kitt, The Redneck Manifesto, Somadrone, Goodtime John, I Am The Cosmos, Solar Bears, Messiah J & The Expert and in recent years was playing in the Houseplants live band.
Glenn was one of the very good ones, it was always a pleasure to meet at a festival or a gig – always bright with enthusiasm and his smile. I last met him at last summer’s Beyond The Pale Festival – it was always great to see him.
Keating was also an artist-in-residence at the National Concert Hall and was an electronic producer and sound composer having worked on projects like Music For 18 Machines with Simon Cullen and his R O U N D S project which was commissioned by St Patrick’s Festival and performed in St Patrick’s Cathedral, the live version of which was releases under his own project – BoNS Synth Ensemble.
In 2020, he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2020, which later spread to the liver over the next year. The cancer reappeared in his lungs in 2022 and he had been through many rounds of chemotherapy.
Condolences to his wife Leda and sons Arlo and Llewyn.
We will raise a creamy G to the man. Rest in power Glenn.
The funeral takes place on Saturday.
