Self Esteem has a new album A Complicated Woman, hear ‘Focus Is Power’

Rebecca Lucy Taylor has announced the followup to 2021’s Prioritise Pleasure.

A Complicated Woman is to be released on April 25th this year on Polydor Records. The album is about taking control of your life…

‘Focus Is Power’ is the new single from the record, with a video shot in a community hall out now.

The song is inspired by words Taylor wrote on a sticker, working from her mum and dad’s shed in the pandemic – “You see, it wasn’t up to me but now it could be / But now I see it clear with every passing of each year / I deserve to be here…”

The album is filled with female voices, often in a choir mode, with collaborators Nadine Shah, Moonchild Sanelly, Sue Tompkins from Life Without Buildings; the drag queen Meatball and Lancaster actress Julie Hesmondhalgh.
