Skinner releases new single ‘Dog Daze’ on Faction, inspired by Al Pacino film Dog Day Afternoon

The Kildare 24-year-old, DIY slouch rock musician Aaron Corcoran aka Skinner (DOI: I manage the artist) follows up his recent “weird disco” song of new wave and post-punk stripes single ‘The Slump’ with a song inspired by the Al Pacino film Dog Day Afternoon, ‘Dog Daze’, out today on Faction Records.

‘Dog Daze’ brandishes saxophone angular guitar shapes to underscore the main character’s boiling over frustration and interpolates some of the movie’s dialogue in the lyrics.

“The song was inspired by the movie ‘Dog Day Afternoon’. The main character of Sonny was someone that really resonated with me. Nearly everyone my age is stuck between a rock and a hard place where everyday the news just gets worse and worse. The police want to do you over, the landlords want to rip you off and the government wants to crucify you. It’s at a point where everyone’s just like “I’m tired man” and when you’re tired you’re in no mood to put up with bullshit so you tell it like it is. That’s what I wanted to do with this song, tell it like it is.”

A video for the song drops next week.

Dog Daze Lyrics

Ah tell me I’m
Pretty in pink
And tell me my
Breath doesn’t stink
Well I swear I won’t shoot
If you stay cool
I’m just a good guy who got sick of the rules
Ah cops was called in
Said they’d cut me a deal
They just wanna do me over
I know they aint real
Well I never was a fan of the boys in blue
Cause there’s only one thing they know how to do
So kiss me
What?
Kiss me
What?
I like to get kissed when I’m being fucked
So kiss me
What?
Kiss me
What?
I like to get kissed when I’m being fucked
Keep a cold mouth so my breath won’t show
Gotta make it look like summer
They don’t have to know
Well I’m gonna get the money for your surgery
You deserve to be the person that you want to be
Always tip the pizza boy
And make his day
He’s gotta pay for his gas
He’s gotta pay for his pay
And the cops are gonna shoot ya
If you’re good or bad
While the world tries to dilute you
Like another fad
So kiss me
What?
Kiss me
What?
I like to get kissed when I’m being fucked
So kiss me
What?
Kiss me
What?
I like to get kissed when I’m being fucked

Attica, attica
Attica, attica
Attica, attica
Attica, attica
Attica, attica
Attica, attica
Attica, attica
Attica, attica!!!!
No I don’t wanna be your dog x4
(The dog days are over) x 2
