Galway artist Sweetlemondae has released a music video for her recent song ‘Turn The World’, which coincides with the use of the song in RTÉ’s coverage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup which kicks off this Thursday July 20th.
The track is dedicated to and inspired by the Republic of Ireland Women’s National Football Team who have qualified for the World Cup for the first time. The video celebrates their achievements to date, and is an ideal soundtrack to the Women’s World Cup coverage.
The Irish Women’s team kick off their campaign on Thursday in Group B playing the host nation Australia at 11am this Thursday before playing Canada (Wed July 26th) and Nigeria (July 31st).
Sweetlemondae said the song is about “flipping the script on anything that has ever been said you, that is intended to deter you from doing what you want. I wanted this song to capture the importance of what the girls in green have been working towards for so many years.”
