The best tracks of the week
3. Her – ‘Quite Like’
A French duo with casual compliments on the brain.
Taking the band name and the song together, there’s no doubt what the primary subject of Her’s music is about. ‘Quite Like’ is a suave and sensual song released last summer that slipped by me for a second listen but the release of the band’s debut EP Her Tape #1 brought the carnal song (and NSFW video) back into focus.
4. Fort Romeau – ‘Secrets & Lies’
One of my favourite electronic producers continues to impress.
No surprise here. Almost everything Fort Romeau releases is an essential purchase for the record bag (virtual or otherwise). From last year’s Insides LP to his recent must-own edits of Peter Gabriel. ‘Secrets & Lies’ is taken from his latest 12″ three-track release on Live At Robert Johnson and is yet another emotive and effective dancefloor weapon. It also features a Dirty Dancing sample.
