The Darkness announce Dublin and Belfast shows on Permission To Land 20 anniversary tour
They may have been derided as a bit of a joke band at the time but the intervening years have proved The Darkness are a rock band with a bit of staying power, as they have announced nine new shows for the Permission To Land 20 world tour, which will run through the UK and Ireland in December, and starts in October in North America.
The tour marks 20 years of Permission to Land debut album in 2003 and touches down in Dublin and Belfast in December.
02 Dec – Belfast, Telegraph Building
03 Dec – Dublin, 3Olympia Theatre
Tickets for the new shows go on sale at 9am Friday July 7th and can be purchased via their site.
“We, The Darkness, are delighted to announce that we’ll be hitting the road in the U.K. once again. To commemorate the, our set will include every song from our debut album faithfully reproduced (with additional clam notes and meanderings) in the order in which they appear on the record. We’ll also play all of your favourite Darkness songs from the rest of our illustrious and tipsy turvy career. It will be the best show you’ll see this year. I should know, I’m the singer and also a YouTube music expert.”
Frontman Justin Hawkins
Indeed, Hawkins has become somewhat of a Youtube sensation in recent years through his own Youtube channel Justin Hawkins Rides Again.
The shows willrun through the 11 tracks on the debut album hits ‘Growing On Me’, ‘Love Is Only A Feeling’, ‘Get Your Hands Off My Woman’ and ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’, before a bonus ‘Best Of The Rest’ set from their six subsequent studio albums.
