Thundercat and Tame Impala have linked up on a new song from the bassist and producer.
Stephen Bruner and Kevin Parker’s ‘No More Lies’ feels like a meeting of two sensibilities, the jazz-funk / R&B of Thundercat with the psych of Tame Impala. It’s Thundercat’s first new song in three years.
The song was written by Bruner about a doomed relationship in which he takes most of the responsibility – “… it’s not your fault, I’m just kind of ass”.
“I’ve wanted to work with Kevin since the very first Tame Impala album,” says Thundercat. “I feel that I knew that us working together would be special. I’ve been excited about this song for a long time and hope to create more with Kevin in the future.”
Both artists also feature on the latest Gorillaz album Cracker Island on the title track and ‘New Gold’ respectively.
Thundercat also made his acting debut in Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett last year.
