It was a big weekend for live music with Coachella return to Indio in California and marking the official start of the festival calendar. Weekend one of Coachella was livestreamed on Youtube in almost full coverage, offering those around the world to drop in on premiere sets from big artists and surprise guest slots.
Coachella streamed six channels of live music from Friday to Sunday (and will do again for weekend two), but it was not all shared with two highly anticipated sets from Frank Ocean (a report on that show with clips is here) and Jai Paul was not streamed live.
Jai Paul
The enigmatic producer/singer’s Jai Paul first ever live show was Saturday at Coachella, was rebroadcasted later. For me, it was the thing I wanted to see the most, and thankfully, the rebroadcast was shared by communities like The Paul Institute Discord. The set is a lot of fun, especially for those of us who have wondered if it would ever happen.
Elsewhere the big news of the weekend was probably the reuniting of Blink 182 to their original lineup, a set added late last week. Boygenius headlined and were guests on MUNA’s set, while Rosalia’s main stage performance was one of the best of the weekend, we really need a Rosalia live set in Ireland huh?
Here’s some official videos of note from weekend 1 at Coachella featuring Pusha T, Kaytranada, Sleaford Mods, MUNA, Yaeji, Alex G, Yves Tumor, Remi Wolf, Noname, Wet Leg, Blink 182 and more.
The Coachella live stream is still active for now and you can rewind the live streams and watch them back too.
