Watch: Contour help illustrate what sound looks like in video for ‘Bloom Through The Cracks’

Luke Sharkey
Contour - Bloom Through the Cracks

Dublin-based electronica duo Contour recently returned following a breif haitus with their upcomingRecesses EP.

On the site today is the video for the lead single from that release, ‘Bloom Through The Cracks’.

The video distorts what’s recognisable with technologically inspired glitches. The group have relied heavily on a concept called oscilloscope processing to create this effect. Essentially, oscilloscope processing translates an audio source and outputs a visual representation to match the input. A clever idea used intuitively throughout the video, mixing the effect with images of people and instruments.

The visual is an acute companion to the group’s soulful electronica, which shares the same blend of organic and artificial soundscapes.
