Watch Shiv’s music video for ‘Cherry Pie’ featuring Kojaque

Ahead of the release the Irish-Zimbabwean artist’s debut album the defiance of a sadgirl this September, Shiv has dropped a new single featuring the Soft Boy rapper.

Unlike previous self-productions, ‘Cherry Pie’ is produced by Soft Boy affiliate Gaptoof, and Kojaque jumped on the track with a co-sign verse too.

Shiv says the song “is about the journey of coming home to yourself. Very often in life, we are caught in these in-between phases, constantly in states of growth or evolution, but rarely do we find moments of peace. cherry pie explores the journey to realising – or at least attempting to realise – that state.”

“Gaptoof and I started working together after a DM I sent to him about hearing his song on the music podcast ”Are We Live” back in January 2022. I had always loved his production style and the tasteful way he creates a mood. This sparked the beginning of our collaborative journey. We went back and forth on a couple of tracks, but “cherry pie” always stuck out. Somewhere along the line, Kojaque got involved on the song and, being a huge fan of his, it really felt like the perfect addition to the track.”
