Win five vinyl albums from Tower Records’ Vinyl Countdown sale

Tower Records in Dublin are two (Dawson Street, O’Connell Street) of the last remaining independently-owned Tower Records going and as ever, they’ll be doing some special events for Record Store Day this Saturday.

Tower has seen vinyl sales increase in the last five years as RSD has become an established date on the calendar. To mark the run up to Saturday, Tower have offered me 5 vinyls from their Vinyl Countdown sale which is reducing hundreds of vinyl releases from €12.99 and includes albums from Jape, Massive Attack, Sam Smith, Thin Lizzy, Laura Marling, Bob Marley, Hozier, Rolling Stones, Feist and more.

I have five of them to giveaway:

Jape – This Chemical Sea
Sam Smith – In the Lonely Hour
Beck – Morning Phase
Laura Marling – Short Stories
Tower vinyl exclusive: HamsandwicH – Stories From The Surface.

To enter to win all five, just leave a comment below telling me what your favourite recent vinyl purchase was and I’ll pick a winner on Thursday.

Mine, is actually a copy of This Chemical Sea, which I bought from Tower on Dawson Street over the weekend.

  1. My favourite recent vinyl purchase is Yo La Tengo – Extra Painful. It’s awesome to see such a great record get the reissue pressing it deserves.

  2. ‘Individ’ by The Dodos, on Orange vinyl. One of my favourite albums of the year thus far, and who doesn’t love a coloured record?

  3. My Fave and most recent vinyl purchase was ‘Back in Black’ by ACDC from the sound cellar in 1986. I played that mutha grooveless.

  4. My favourite recent Vinyl buy would have to be Amy Winehouse Back to Black and Haim Days are gone. Looking forward to Saturday and buying some more. would love to add these to my collection.

  5. My favourite recent vinyl purchase has to be Wolf Alice’s new 7″ release Giant Peach. They’re a band with a lot of potential who I see going pretty far, and I can’t wait to catch them at Longitude this summer!

  6. It’s a tough choice, I bought Ocean’s of Frequency the other week, but I just bought the Lend Me Your Face/Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues 7″ by FLApes and it’s just the best thing ever.
(I am so desperate for This Chemical Sea, oh god)

  7. Flying Lotus – You’re Dead!

A great trippy album, with great, trippy artwork. Also the first time I’ve enjoyed a Snoop Dogg verse in years.

  8. so so hard to choose but recent purchase – Glass Animals – ZABA saw them preform at Body N Soul @ EP, then again at the Acadamy last month i was so impressed bought the LP the next day !!

  9. without a doubt Father John Misty’s new installment ‘I Love Your, Honeybear’; stunning record, stunning artwork, stunning man.

  10. I recently got a limited ed colour vinyl of Bjork’s Vespertine Lp. Great winter album but maybe not for balmy summer evenings like today.

  11. I treated myself to original UK 1st pressings of Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road at a recent visit to a gorgeous little record shop in Camden.

  12. Live! – Rory Gallagher. Recent stint in NYC had me rummaging through a $1 record box in a shop in Greenpoint. I find Rory, tell the guy gladly “He’s from where I’m from” but the vinyl is scratched to bits, and the sleeve falling off. I’m putting it back with a heavy heart, then directly behind it is another copy in mint condition. Bizarre. Best $1 I ever spent.

  13. I really enjoyed Natalie Prass’ self-titled album; the production is fantastic and the instrumentation is beautiful 🙂 Got it in Freebird.

  14. My recent favorite is definitely HamsandwicH’s new album “Stories from the Surface”. I’ve been a massive fan for the last couple of years and I recently got to see them live in Killarney. They were amazing and Podge even dedicated “Fandango” (which is a song on the new album) to me, all because I tweeted them! Genuine people with genuine music, top class!
