6 new Irish songs you should hear this week

1.
LemonCello – Stuck Upon the Staircase
LemonCello is made up by Laura Quirke and Claire Kinsella. This live version of ‘Stuck Upon the Staircase’ from their forthcoming EP of the same title was recorded by director and filmmaker Myles O’Reilly. The track is an eclectic blend of cello, gentle guitar riffs and vocals that flow into each other naturally in a powerful folk-tale style.
The EP launch takes place at The Cobblestone on Friday April 26th. Tickets priced at €9+ are available from Eventbrite.ie.

Badhands – Let Me In
Former member of The Mighty Stef and The Last Tycoons, Dan Fitzpatrick is the musician behind the project Badhands. ‘Let Me In’ is rich in an enticing ambience which is layered in a bluesy tone, telling the story of ‘a late night misadventure, where our protagonist finds himself locked out and wandering the streets in the early hours.’

Ebauche – Chwiać
Chwiać is by Berlin-based Alex Leonard or Ebauche from his new album Mutable. The track starts off with a danger drone tone that gradually builds up into a softer ambience which is sparked by bouncing synths until the sound drones back off into the distance.

Darce – Who You Loving Ft. Becky Philips
This release from alt-hip-hop rapper Darce sees him collaborating with singer Becky Philips whislt stepping up on production with a more electro-dance vibe in comparison to his previous release ‘Valhalla’. The track deals with the insecurities of the aftermath of infidelity.
5.
Good Ghost – April Showers
Good Ghost is the musical project by Kildare native Stephen Lovatt who now resides in Berlin. ‘April Showers’ is an ambient folk track with a deeply soothing atmosphere.
6.
A Smyth – Coming Back To You
‘Coming Back To You’ is the third solo release from former Vann Music frontman A Smyth as a follow on from ‘Into The Darkness’ and ‘Be There’, from his debut album which we can expect to be released later this year.
