1.

Poté, Damon Albarn

Young Lies

Poté - 'Young Lies (feat. Damon Albarn)' (Official Music Video)

Poté is Sylvern Mathurin, an artist who has previously collaborated with Kojey Radical, and Chelou an who has a debut album entitled A Tenuous Tale Of Her on Bonobo’s Outlier label. For the record’s first single, none other than Damon Albarn appears on the song’s soft electronic and plucked tones.

2.

Hannah Peel

Fir Wave

Fir Wave

You should really let the Northern Irish artist Hannah Peel’s new album Fir Wave wash all over you. The whole album is interpretations of the music of electronic pioneers Delia Derbyshire and the Radiophonic Workshop.

3.

Elkka

Burnt Orange

Elkka - 'Burnt Orange' (Official Audio)

Emma Kirby is a London- based DL/producer, boss of the label femme culture and artist Elkka whose ‘Burnt Orange’ tune fits right into the warm electronic stylings of Technicolour,  the second Ninja Tune imprint mentioned here this week. A five-track EP called Euphoric Melodies is out on May 21st.

4.

James K

Ultra Facial!

James K - Ultra Facial!

New York artist James K released an EP on AD 93 that features Yves Tumor, but it’s track two ‘Ultra Facial’ from the release that caught my ears originally.

5.

Adam Garrett

Casual (Myfault Shiny Disco remix)

Adam Garrett - Casual (MYFAULT's Shiny Disco Extended Edit)

Adam Shanahan aka Myfault takes Adama Garrett’s ‘Casual’ for an extended disco spin and it’s worth the trip. It’s shiny indeed with strings and pew pew sounds to boot.

6.

Moullinex, Selma Uamusse

Ngoma Nwana

Moullinex com Selma Uamusse - Ngoma Nwana | Eléctrico | Antena 3

Portugese nu-disco producer Moullinex and Mozambican singer Selma Uamusse have created a nuanced wonky banger here. An album called Requiem for Empathy is out April 30th 2021.

‘Take A Chance’ is a 2015 Moullinex track that is a keeper.

7.

Pixel Grip

Alphapussy

Pixel Grip- ALPHAPUSSY [Official Visualizer]

Chicago trio Pixel Grip’s ‘Alphapussy’ is an edifying an heady combination of dark electro, minimal wave and queer culture. The band’s second album  ARENA is out May 21st on Feeltrip Records

8.

The Line

Stressful (JFDR remix)

Meltybrains?’ Brian Dillon’s The Line project released a full-length last year and this month he has marked the occasion by dropping two remixes. Firstly, one by Nnux and secondly this gorgeous looped string ambient reimagining by Icelandic artist JFDR. Those strings are so evocative. Bandcamp.

9.

Dry Cleaning

Strong Feelings

Dry Cleaning - Strong Feelings (Official Video)

Dry Cleaning released their debut album New Long Leg last week and the combination of spoken word poetry by Florence Shaw over a band playing guitar music works because there is a sparkling interplay between these two forces.
