Another Love Story, the small festival taking place in August and run by our friends in Happenings and Homebeat have a short film series called My Love Story focusing on the people who have participated or been involved in the festival.
Last year, they kicked off the My Love Story series with Bantum and this latest documentary focuses on the Cork sound system creator and furniture maker Toby Hatchett who has built and installed bespoke sound systems in spaces like Connolly’s in Leap in Cork, The Big Romance, Lost Lane and Hang Dai in Dublin and of course, provides systems at Another Love Story in Killyon Manor.

Each year it requires a small supernova of effort and creativity to create the moment of beauty and artistic expression which forms each edition of our glorious summer Manor party.
However, the ephemeral nature of that moment, and of festivals in general, is not lost on us, so last year, we started My Love Story – an annual short film series hoping to capture some of the spark behind that moment – a glimpse of the wider story of how the festival comes to life, and to document the stories and passions of those who participate in it.
Toby has been bringing his beautiful sound systems – which perfectly marry his twin loves of carpentry and hi fi sound – to Another Love Story for four years now.
His commitment to producing a product of real quality and distinction is unparallelled, so their presence has not only raised the level of audio production at the festival, but their refined beauty has added a sculptural dimension to the stages which they grace.
To top that off Toby brings a wealth of festival experience and know how, as well as a van load of amazing tunes and craic as a DJ – honed over years of his renowned My House parties. And aside from this, his own life story is a really interesting journey – he is a legit character to add to the mix of ALS.Toby’s passion for beautiful design and incredible sound continues to be a crucial and much loved element of Another Love Story – so we invite you to spend a few minutes looking into the process of what brings these amazing sound systems to life.
