An all-star cast of Irish musicians will celebrate Mic Christopher in Whelan’s this month
The sad story of Mic Christopher, one of Ireland’s most promising songwriters of the early 2000s is well documented, as is the respect his peers had for him and showed after his untimely death.
Saturday September 21st 2019 would have been Mic’s 50th birthday so in honour of his memory and his music, a whole load of artists will perform together in Whelan’s in his honour.
All of these artists will be there to pay tribute and perform on Saturday September 21st in Whelan’s.
Acko, Ailbhe Reddy, Alice Jago, Ann Scott, Aoife Carton, Clare Sands, Cry Monster Cry, Davy Lyons, Eve Darcy, Inni-K, Jane Willow, Karl Odlum, Leslie Keye, Lisa Hannigan, Margaret Healy, Mark Dignam, Mark Geary, Muireann, Nina Hynes, Paddy Casey, Sharon Horgan, Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), Q, Rónán Ó Snodaigh, Saoirse Casey, The Daydreamers, The Pale, Ultan Conlon.
Tickets are €29 with with all proceeds going to Aidlink’s local partner charities in Kenya and Uganda. Tickets are available from here.
The core focus of the work Aidlink funds is based on capacity building within society by empowering women, which begins with education, but also includes irrigation and sanitation. The welfare of children was a huge concern of Mic’s, so it’s fitting that the funds will be used in this way.
