I can’t say I’ve ever been a fan of Bell X1, or the Bellies as their fans might call them (cringe) but my oh my, ‘Hey Anna Lena’, the first tune from their new album Bloodless Coup is so gorgeous I want to kiss it on its atmospheric mouth. Rising from proto-Radiohead style pulsing and twinkling electronica, it soars into orchestral sweeping movements and piano before receding back to beats and keys again. It’s a big velvety lush.
Bloodless Coup is out on April 1st. There will be two Dublin gigs in Vicar Street on the 6th and 7th of April.
