The Irish guitarist/singer-songwriter Cian Nugent has returned with news of a new album due in May entitled She Brings Me Back To The Land Of The Living on May 5th on US label No Quarter, which marks his first album in seven years, since 2016’s third album Night Fiction, when he was touring and playing with his band Cian Nugent & The Cosmos.
‘High Up Airplane’ is the album’s first taster, and the title ius informed by Cian’s time when he moved back into his family home in 2020 to care for his mother Kathy who was then recovering from a stroke and experiencing aphasia, a difficulty with speech.
A phrase she started saying then was “she brings me back to the land of the living”, and Cian says it stuck with him.
“The songs here act as a way of processing change and accepting new futures.” Kathy also provides the cover art, a painting she made while still in the hospital.

Nugent’s previous albums include Night Fiction (2016), Born With The Caul (2014) and his debut Doubles (2011).
Nugent has done some extensive touring across North America and Europe, including work as a guitarist with Steve Gunn, Ryley Walker and Nap Eyes.
