Graeme S of Hsüan Records and Lakerama has been playing this remix of “darkwave duchess” Abra out lately in his DJ sets and he decided he wanted to share it with the world.
Graeme says:
“I’m a huge fan of R’n’B and for the last few years I’ve tried to incorporate this into my productions, whether it’s my own productions on the label (Hsüan Records) or with Lakerama.
I’m trying to push a different aesthetic forward, a new perspective, like blurring r’n’b with drum and bass or in this case, old rave and Baltimore club music. I don’t want to reinterpret the past and cling to nostalgia.
I have a new EP coming out in early 2017 it’s been a huge effort, particularly in trying to merge these components into a coherent set of tracks, but I’m really happy with the outcome and lucky to be working with some amazingly talented singers and rappers in Ireland.”
