Glastonbury announces 2023 lineup

Glastonbury has announced its lineup for this summer’s 2023 edition at Worthy Farm from June 21st to June 25th.

The three main headliners are Arctic Monkeys (Friday), Guns ‘N’ Roses (Saturday) and Elton John (Sunday), while the festival also features Lizzo (Saturday), Alison Goldfrapp, Lana Del Rey, Blondie, Candi Staton, Fever Ray, Kelis, Young Fathers, Sparks, Sudan Archives, Weyes Blood, Queens of the Stone Age and more.

Full list of the first 55 acts below in an easy read format.

In an interview with The Guardian to coincide with the announcement, booker Emily Eavis addressed the all-male headliners this year saying “Guns N’ Roses were booked when a previously confirmed female headliner pulled out because she ‘changed her touring plans'”.

The speculation is that artist is/was Taylor Swift.

53% of the 55 names are male and Eavis said she remained “entirely focused on balancing our bill. It’s not just about gender, it’s about every aspect of diversity.”

45% of the 55 are non-white artists.

“The music industry needs to invest in more female musicians to create future headliners, said Eavis. “We’re trying our best so the pipeline needs to be developed. This starts way back with the record companies, radio. I can shout as loud as I like but we need to get everyone on board.”
