Friday is release day and here’s the first things that caught my ear while listening to new songs out.

See the New Music section for individual posts on tracks.

Anderson .Paak – ‘Jewelz’

Anderson .Paak drops a new smooth song produced by Timbaland.

Roosevelt – ‘Feels Right’

Roosevelt announced a new album called Polydans out in February on Greco-Roman / City Slang. His gilded electronic disco can really pop at its best. ‘Feels Right’ is a fairly standard Roosevelt tune, but that’s not a bad thing.

Nealo feat. Molly Sterling, Jehnova, Adam Garrett – ‘Let Your Dreams Collect Dust Until You’re Desperate’

Nealo drops another collab cut from his forthcoming album All The Leaves Are Falling on October 30th. That artwork.

 Channel Tres – ‘Skate Depot’

Channel Tres is all about a spoken word, house-driven funk music. From a forthcoming mixtape I Can’t Go Outside. Tres features on my song of the summer.

Fia Moon – ‘Let This Go’

Dublin R&B singer Fia Moon is on track three of six from a forthcoming mixtape, and each track compounds the artist’s stylish R&B pop sound.

“It’s about accepting things for what they are and learning to let go of things that don’t make you happy. When you’re so comfortable in a situation, it can be really hard to detach yourself and recognize that you need to walk away and let go of the things that are ultimately holding you down.

It’s cliche, but it’s true that time is a healer and I guess that’s what I meant when I wrote the lines ‘know in time it’ll be ok’. I actually find the song quite self-soothing and I hope that comes across to other people who hear it.”

Erica Cody, Hare Squead – ‘Calculated’

Erica Cody wrote ‘Calculated’ Lilo Blues of Hare Squead and there’s a lovely drippy synth throwback R&B vibe to it. The song was produced by Erica and Diffusion Labs.

Eve Belle – ‘Bluff’

Donegal’s Eve Belle announced her debut album In Between Moments today to be released Friday 23rd October by Rubyworks. ‘Bluff’ is a smart electronic-leaning pop song co-written with Le Boom’s Christy Leech and produced with Fiachra Kinder

“This song is about the frustration of wanting someone and trying not to lose face by putting all of your cards on the table (but if you’re honest with yourself, you already have!) It’s about that extremely flexible logic you develop when you really, really like someone, that ‘if they don’t text back within half an hour I’m done with them. Ok, I’ll send another text to make sure they got the last text and then if they don’t reply to that one, it’s DEFINITELY over’ moment.”

Soccer Mommy – ‘Crawling In My Skin’ (Actress remix)

An interesting remixed take on the original from the Color Theory album by UK electronic producer Actress.

Happyalone – A Letter To My Mental Health

Cork’s Happyalone release an uncharacteristically minimal and unadorned song, which makes sense considering the song’s subject of pandemic-induced mental health struggles.

Under Tears – Good Drying Weather

Julie Chance of Berlin-based band EVVOL releases a affecting solo debut song under the name Under Tears. The video features rave footage from Dublin in the ’90s.
