Houseplants channel LCD Soundsystem on curtain-twitching new song 'Window Pane'

Paul Noonan and Daithí’s Houseplants project has debuted its third track from the forthcoming album Dry Goods.

After ‘Companero’ which remembers the day Marriage Equality was passed in Ireland and ‘What’s With All The Pine?’ inspired by the voyeurism of peeking into someone’s house through a Zoom call, ‘Window Pane’ is firmly in the neighbourhood, peeking through the curtains and listening to the what those next door are up to.

The song has an LCD Soundsystem rhythmic quality and the pair of curtain-twitchers say of the track, it is about:

The everyday muffled noises we hear from our fellow humans living beside us tease us a little – a soundtrack to the mundane, the daily grind. Curtains, floorboards, hairdryers. People there alright, enough for the imagination to run with anyway.”
